Thursday, November 29,2012Description:This workshop was created based on the growing concerns and demands that library systems were noticing with customers who asked for assistance in using the MyBenefits.dew.sc.gov system. Topics include: navigation of the online unemployment insurance system, how to assist citizens filing for unemployment, and using the South Carolina Works Online Services portal (SCWOS).
Topics include:
· Overview of the South Carolina Department of Employment & Workforce website
· Locating and understanding your local SC WORK Center website
· Navigation of the online unemployment insurance system, Mybenefits.dew.sc.gov
· Alerting patrons about the process of filing for unemployment insurance online
· Current filing requirements for citizens who are unemployed or partially employed and claiming benefits
· Talking points and resources on how to assist citizens filing for unemployment insurance
· Using the South Carolina Works Online Services portal, (SCWOS) for job searching, and as a requirement for filing for unemployment.
· Customer service techniques for handling the disgruntled, disruptive, and despondent
· Informational resources about Goodwill, SC Dept of Social Services Project Hope, SC Dept of Employment and Workforce Ticket to Work, and the Federal Bonding Program
· State Library resources such as Learning Express for skill building on job/career tests and the Small Business Reference Center for those who may wish to create economic development by being a small business owner.
You will have a guided tour of the South Carolina Works Online Services portal. Attendees will create an account, examine the resume builder, provide self sufficiency by directing citizens to the assistance/learning centers, and have a full overview of items needed to complete the SCWOS process.
